  • Why should I buy source code from you when the web has sites that provide source code for free?
  • You get what you pay for. Even in these days of open source this still holds true. We provide a premium, time saving service which we charge a fair price for. Every detail of our source code and documentation is meticulously designed, tested and presented. We respond to every support request. We save days or weeks of your development time. We provide trustworthy fully tested solutions. If these things don't matter to you, then Embedded-Code is unlikely to be the choice for you. If you can find the perfect open source or free solution for your project then use it, but if all you can find is poorly written, hard to understand or horribly documented code then consider what you get from our projects for a very low one time cost. After all, no software is really free, because your time isn't free.

We only exist to write source code that makes your life easier. We spend a huge amount of time on each of our projects ensuring that you can use and modify our code as quickly and easily as possible. Free code, even from the most reputable sources, is often very difficult to understand, poorly written or limited in what it can do. Embedded-code.com was born out of the frustration of not being able to find inexpensive, high quality and easy to use embedded source code on the web.

All of our code is designed by professional programmers based in United Kingdom and the USA, with years of experience designing embedded software for commercial products. We don't subcontract any aspects of our development work to low cost, low skill programmers.

Do you want to work through thousands of lines of cryptic gibberish, or do you want to work with code you can understand? We write our source code to be as easy as possible to understand by programmers of all levels. All code is highly commented with no lazy programming techniques. All function, variable and constant names are fully descriptive to help you modify and expand the code with ease.

Our code is robust, fully tested and has been pounded upon by many customers before you.

Our projects are fully documented, usually with a full description of the source code, useful tips and reference schematic designs. Our documentation provides simple and clear instructions on how to quickly and painlessly add the code to your project.

    We provide free technical support.

By utilising our source code for a project you don't just make your life easier now, but every time you need to use it again for a new project. Will the hours, days or weeks spent fighting with some free source code now still be worth it when you've had to de-bug or re-work it again and again for future projects?

  • What am I buying when I buy your source code?
  • When you purchase source code from us you are purchasing a licence to use that source code. The Private Licence permits a single named user to use and modify the purchased source code for non-commercial purposes (i.e. for personal experimentation) in an unlimited number of personal projects. If you wish to use the source code in commercial products you need to buy a Commercial Licence which permits a single named user to use the source code in an unlimited number of commercial products without any royalty fees payable. The source code may not be distributed to anyone else in any way who does not also hold a licence. For full details please see our licence agreement.

  • What are the licence requirements
  • For full details please see our licence agreement. The basic requirements are:-

Embedded-code.com retains ownership and copyright of the supplied source code.
You must retain and not alter the licence information block at the top of each file.
You must not distribute any part of the source code, whether modified or not, to anyone else who does not hold a Licence for that source code.
You must purchase a Commercial Licence if any part of the source code is used in a commercial product.

  • I design for other companies. May I use your source code in products for other companies?
  • Yes. You need to purchase a Commercial Licence for the source code to obtain and use the code. If you do not provide source code to a client then your commercial licence is all that you require. If you supply source code to a client then an additional Commercial Licence will need to be purchased for any of our source code that you supply to them, naming them as the licence holder.

  • Will your source code work with other processors / microcontrollers and compilers?
  • We always design our code using an ANSI compliant compiler. Therefore using the code with other ANSI compliant compilers should not present significant problems. Where we use specific functions of the processor / microcontroller the code was designed with we make this clear so it may be easily modified to suit different processors / microcontrollers and compilers (for example when using timers etc). Each project description specifies the device and the compiler the code was designed with and our guarantee covers using the source code with the same device and compiler. Where possible we will try to help solve any problems when the code is used with other devices or compilers, but given the huge number of devices and compilers available we are unable to guarantee 'out of the box' compatibility. If you plan to use the source code with a different processor, microcontroller and/or compiler you should ensure that you have sufficient programming expertise to carry out any modifications that may be required to the source code.

  • Your projects are considerably cheaper than other companies who sell source code, are they not as good?
  • Absolutely not. Embedded-code.com is owned and run by programmers and we take a different view to other companies who sell source code. Instead of pricing our projects based on the maximum we think the market will pay, we price our projects based on the cost to develop, support and market them to a large number of customers.

  • Upgrades & Support
  • All purchases of a source code project Private Licence include free basic support for 1 months and free upgrades for 3 months. All purchases of a source code project Commercial Licence include free upgrades and technical support for 12 months. (If the price of a Licence has been increased during this period due to an improvement in the projects functionality the difference in price will need to be paid to obtain an upgrade). Please use our support page to request technical support. You can find the version number of the project you have purchased in the main.h or driver header file. The current version number of a project is shown on our product web page next to the download link for the sample code. If a version has changed you can download the sample code and look in its matching header file to see what has changed as some updates don't improve functionality or fix bugs but are for updates other reasons. If you would like to request the latest version of a purchased project please email us attaching the licence.pdf file included with your purchased project.

  • Can I return purchased source code products for a refund?
  • No.
